Tom Swope Gallery at 307 Warren Street
Tom Swope Gallery opened in November of 2008 to introduce antiquities to an audience that may never have considered acquiring ancient art, and to offer fine and rare objects to experienced collectors. The galleries inventory covers a vast range of objects from the ancient world, reflecting the owner's philosophy that all ancient cultures are part of our common heritage.
Antiquities are one of the most rewarding fields to collect. The objects have intrinsic and aesthetic importance, and beyond their artistic merit, they are remarkably reasonably priced in comparison to almost any other collecting field. Tom Swope has over than twenty years of experience buying and selling ancient art, and has introduced the world of antiquities to many sophisticated collectors who had previously been unaware of the field. He has also consulted on the formation of collections both as a curator and advisor.
Buying a work of art starts with the eye and heart, and then the head. The acquisition of an ancient object not only gives aesthetic pleasure, it also opens the door to a fuller appreciation of the culture and time from which the object originated. All the pieces are guaranteed, and Mr. Swope would be happy to share his knowledge and expertise with you.
Tom Swope recently took on White Webb's Intaglio line of furniture, and is their representative on the East Coast.
